How to read this board
Three results, one method
Meets screen: a screen index of 74 or more with no criterion below 60. Needs review: no hard fail, but at least one weak point or a live scholarly debate. Fails screen: a hard fail on riba or maysir, or any criterion below 32.
Each result is dated and tied to method v1.0, so you can see when and how it was reached.
Why halal lists disagree
Screeners weigh the same questions differently: is a token property (maal), how much uncertainty is too much, does staking or a governance role change the picture. Regulators also screen for a specific market and venue.
A different result is not automatically a contradiction. Read the reasoning, compare sources, and ask a qualified scholar when it matters to you.
The SC Malaysia list
The Securities Commission Malaysia's Shariah Advisory Council has listed 15 digital currencies as Shariah-compliant for trading on SC-registered exchanges, decided between July 2020 and December 2024. The badge shows the approximate decision month.
